| I've done the Berg a couple of times. It was my first venture away from Oktoberfest to discover the Germany beyond... I did try the Mönchshofer and liked it - certainly better than the Tucher which tasted like the sort of thing I can get at home in the UK frankly - but the Steinbach was best I thought. Calling it dark is probably pushing it. As a downside there was one instance where we think we got a Mass which was not quite what it seemed (something added?) which led to one of our party having to bow out early. An afternoon under the trees on the Berg in the sunshine is lovely, but definitely get out of there before the crowds set in, although we did find them very welcoming. Refreshing though after Oktoberfest that that doesn't mean getting in when they open the gates! |
