Metzgerbräu ist sehr gut.

As you've subsequently made clear below, we're talking about Metzgerbräu, not the homebrewer+ Lippert. I, for one, was very skeptical of how good it might be, based on what I saw of him on TV from about 2007. < http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kD9PICYAA > Basically, the sloshing of hot wort back and forth and apparently letting it cool overnight without chilling (FWICT) made me think it would be a good candidate for oxidation and vegetal off-notes. Then we came across it at the lovely fest in Bad Staffelstein last summer, and it was fantastic: richly malty, but also well balanced with hops. Brown and simply very good. I can't think of a similarly-coloured local beer I'd rather have in the standard 5% ABV range than that Metzgerbräu was.
