| Well, I live next door to Belgium, I don't drink Jupiler and I don't like de Struise beers and I know many other people who feel the same way. And the reason is quite simple: de Struise makes beer for the American and the beer geek markets. There are plenty of breweries (if not the majority) in Belgium (and the Netherlands) that make good, somewhat traditional beers. de Struise beers don't taste anything like those beers. As the quote from Urbain in my last message, I hope, made pretty clear, they are not doing well in Belgium. I will grant you that there are some primarily young people here, many of whom use the American beer fan sites, who attend the Borefts festival, for example, and do like American and geek beers. However, their numbers are quite small. The Borefts festival may draw 300-400 from both countries (as well as the UK and US). Can we end this here? This discussion is off-topic and I think you should understand that living here I probably have access to more complete information than you do visiting here occasionally. |
