| I agree with you 100% about Doolin. It's gotten worse since the last time I was there almost 10 years ago. This time the place seemed overrun with badly behaved, drunken, young American tourists. Literally kids half my age falling off barstools or just being a general publlic nuisance. The missus and I overheard a young Irish woman lecturing 2 or 3 American 20ish year olds outside McGanns about how it's impolite to urinate outside on the side of the building in front of people (as if this isn't common sense). They were arguing with her about this as if they actually had an argument to stand upon. Against my wife's better advice I jumped in to the conversation and told these youngsters that she was 100% correct and that they should represent their country when travelling abroad with a lot more dignity and respect, etc., etc. than what they were demonstrating. Fell on deaf ears I suppose. Anyhow, our only reason for staying there that last night was to check out Fitzpatricks and because it is a short ride to the Roadside Tavern. Never again though. We'll look for a place in Lisdoonvarna next time. |
