| Hate to get embroiled in another Ryanair discussion - makes me seem like his PR guru but I can tell you that the reverse happened at Shannon. The airport went from a provincial outpost to a thriving hub of tourism with the arrival of R. When they left and ever since, it is like a morgue. So much so, that several years later, it's going to need a multi-million pound investment plan to get it on its feet again and, perhaps, the return of R. People have to get the idea out of their head that airports should make money - they don't! They should be seen as part of the necessary infrastructure of a region or state, like roads, railways, etc. |
