My wife couldn't speak any when we moved here --I only knew some words and the barest beginnings of the grammar...if even that much-- and we turned out OK, moving here for her job. Depending on the job, if yours is a sought-after field of work (like IT), a company might very well send you to school as part of the relocation package. And there are jobs where German isn't really necessary anyway. I'm just saying, don't write it off as impossible.
