Try the Kachelofen (opposite Schlenkerla at Obere Sandstrasse 1) for their mixed grill for two or more serious meat-eaters - the rest of the menu is great - plenty of Franconian dishes, and they have St Georgen Kellerbier and Schlenkerla to drink. Try Schlenkerla itself for the Bamberger Zwiebel - a giant onion stuffed with seasoned minced pork and served with a Rauchbier sauce - and there's plenty more on the menu. Both are open on Friday and Saturday, but the Kachelofen is so small that you should definitely book.
