| The 'bit.ly' service claims its URLs never expire. "Never" is a funny term, though. What if they go out of business? What if they move to a pay-to-play model? What if they get taken over an the name changes? In short, there is nothing that guarantees that a shortened URL will be around for very long. By the nature of such things, it's risky to consider them sufficiently permanent to include in a hard-copy book. |
