Erlangen is pretty miserable for beer; I have to brew my own. OTOH, it's pretty much free of tourists, which makes it an easier place to *live*, though Siemens and the Uni drive property prices and rents way up. (Wouldn't be a problem for you in the case of a delegation.) And things do work very well here, because it is such a wealthy city. And it's large and international enough so that we can find everything we need in town...except beer.
