Yes, agree with that, there is great respect shown for both bike riders and pedestrians in Germany. In fact, it's quite dangerous for us because, after a few weeks in Germany, when back in Ireland, we tend to forget and step off pavements onto crossings - and nearly get mowed down! Long time since I was resident in the UK, but thought that things were a lot better now. When on hols in Manchester, I notice a lot more bike lanes but, I don't know whether there is much respect shown for them by motorists. However, I read a survey that suggested that British motorists are the most law-abiding in Europe - surprised me. Re Kreuzberg: on the 265 from Forchheim, after Hallerndorf, just before you reach Schaid, on that curly bit of road that's on a sort of plateau crossing fields of something, there's sign for a narrow road to the left that says 'Kreuzberg'. Last time we were on the bus, there was only one other passenger and he got off somewhere around there. After we had been in Roppelt's, we walked up and found him in Rittmeyer. He didn't look a particularly athletic kind of chap, so I assume that it must a fairly easy walk across. It seems to be about the same altitude as Kreuzberg, because the road drops down from Schaid to Stiebarlimbach. Anyone tried that route?
