Best of luck Nick! And that is the point, Jim. I didn't see the old Friedel keller and can only speak as I find. As Nick says, the new apparition is not like any other beer keller that I've been in, most of which are modest and have that 'homely' feeling which makes them so attractive. In addition, there's a certain amount of history with the Kreuzberg (the old church, pilgrimages, etc.) and the building simply detracts from that. It's just too large and too modern to fit the landscape and I'm amazed that they received planning permission to build it - or maybe, like in Ireland, they just didn't bother. However, there's no doubting it's popularity, which may tell you something else.
