Bamberg -several places not open

Are these modern US-brewpub-style places not better suited to ale than lager though, hence the murky, unfinished character of most of them? (Barfüßer,Steinbach, et al)? But then, all a US brewpub needs to brew good lager is the facility to *lager*, right? (Expert opinions out there?)
