| Ach, ja. I've heard that about the hub premium before. OTOH, the best airline price I've ever had was the direct Portland Oregon - Frankfurt flight on Lufthansa over Easter 2004. Okay, back then, the dollar was stronger than today, but still not what it was a decade ago. $355 return/round trip. Not booked far in advance either, maybe a week or two. But it was a new route then, so I suppose it was a promotional deal. And that was the trip that led to us *moving* here. I paid nearly that much for a flight from Portland to Chicago in 2003, IIRC. |
