Made it through quite a bit more yesterday afternoon than I'd expected; the little woman was thirsty, so we shared quite a bit. Started off at the Blümlein's Keller, as is my "tradition". I forget how long he lagers the Eichhorn there, but it's longer than at the other Eichhorn Keller(s), and it's a lovely, mildly malty, clean Festbier. Ideal for the first of the day. From there down to Greif, where the Festbier is nearly black, and like last year, it's blessedly free of DMS or other nastiness that it has been plagued with in the past. Still didn't mean it was good enough to finish a Mass of, only about a half between us, the rest watered some bushes. (I didn't think to ask for a half or a Schnitt until I heard someone else order one, and the lady confirmed that they serve Seidlas to "old or sick people" as well as women. And to me if I'd asked.) Especially because we saw a big change at the Kupfer Keller. Weißenohe Festbier had been there ever since at least 2005, my first year, and is my favourite Weißenohe beer (actually the only one I like at all). Now though, it's run by a group of hobby brewers who have an Annafestbier brewed to their recipe at Neder. It's dark and malty, clean and reasonably good. I'm not a fan of Neder's Annafestbier, so I can't really compare it to that unless I go back and try both, which I might do later in the week. Pale though, and in any case worth trying. The boss refused to let them sell me a Schnitt or Halbe though, citing some BS about inability to calculate a proper price for it. Was a lovely, lovely day. Today she wants to visit Frau Roppelt.
