| Well, in the northern part of the Netherlands, you would be warned not to sound too German! Even the young people (20something) here have heard the war stories and not yet forgiven the Germans. A German guy I know married a Swedish woman over 35 years ago and moved to Sweden. He also learned English. He told me "if you know German, Swedish and English, you get Dutch for free!" |
