For someone in your situation, I think the Bayern Ticket makes more sense (especially regarding cost). That ticket is for one day of travel anywhere in Bavaria. The Sparpreis ticket is basically a discounted "normal" train ticket (it is tied to a specific train on a specific route). The reason I think the Bayern ticket makes more sense is that you can make the trip to Bamberg more interesting by stopping off along the way. In fact, you don't even need to go directly. You could, for example, stop in Regensburg for lunch. Or spend the afternoon in Forchheim. In fact, you could even stop in Salzburg (which is not even in Germany). The ticket, on weekdays, is valid from 09:00 until 03:00 the next morning, giving you plenty of flexibility. On the weekends and holidays, it begins at midnight and ends at 03:00 the next day (more than 24 hours). |
