Ach, du meine Güte! Mind Your Ounces!

I knew, and have been "teaching" people in technical English courses, that a gallon == 8 pints == 4 quarts, but that the difference between the US and British gallon sizes depends only on the number of ounces; I'd forgotten about the trivial difference in the size of the ounce. Then again, most Siemens and Areva engineers don't really have much practical use for quarts and ounces, so I'm not going to feel bad about this.
