On/off topic: dunkles lager with refermentation in the bottle |

Was in Amberg in November and had it at the brewery restaurant. Also bought a bottle and took it home. If you pour the beer carefully hardly any yeast will be in the beer and it is much like a normal Dunkles (a good one imho), if you swirl the bottle like a Weizen and add the yeast the taste becomes a lot fruitier and more complex. A visit to Amberg is recommended, beautiful old town, several breweries. Besides Bruckmüller you have Winkler and Kummert Bräu, traditional breweries, plus a more modern brewpub, Schloderer, all four in or close to the old centre. |
