Jacqueline and self keep an informal scoring system as to the number of times people talk to us in pubs (i.e. first.unsolicited conversation from strangers). 10 = extremely friendly (like most of Eschawo!) - 1 = miserable devils (never happened to my memory). It is extremely rare for a pub to score less than 5, which means at least a friendly hello! What the hell happens to the English language when it crosses the pond! Just as a matter of interest, do you know the song 'Minnie the Moocher'? It was a hit in the 1920/30s, I think for someone like Cab Calloway. Was she an English moocher or an American moocher? |
