Yes, this is one of the best beers in Franken! Thanks for reminding us...pity that it's so rare and hard to find. You can buy it in Erlangen at the Kitzmann Braukontor shop though. I still have yet to visit Fattigau, way up in the far NE corner of the state. It's actually not THAT hoppy though, by non-Franconian standards. Its hoppiness is "well balanced", though it could use more bitterness รก la Pils, then it would be a perfect Pils. Their Dunkel is also quite good. A super-hoppy German Pils was an experimental one brewed by the Romeis Institut for the recent Brau-Beviale (mark your calendars for next year!): http://i40.tinypic.com/2yplohu.jpg 100% Nelson Sauvin hops from Kiwi-Land. Yes, NS can work beautifully in a Pils, in case anyone was wondering. It was one of the best beers at the show this year, perhaps the best German one I found. |
