Stube means "parlor". Beer parlor. "Die gute Stube zu Hause" is the comfy parlor at home, somewhere between family- and living room, I guess. So to have them called Stuben (plural) is not surprising in places like Windescheschenbach, as it's home-oriented. Kneipe is somewhere between "bar" and "pub". The average Joe stops in at the www.dict.cc/?s=Eckkneipe after work. Lots of them around still!
