The term "craft" brewing/beer/brewery/whatever has irked me for nearly two decades, since marketeers invented it to help enable contract brewers and megabreweries to cash in on the GoodBeer revolution going on in the US in the 90's. Just what is it supposed to mean? Sorry you lot up there seem to have adopted it from us Yanks. American beer lovers want to have a term to distinguish the kinds of good, interesting beer being brewed at microbreweries, brewpubs, and even huge beer factories from the bland, watery, miserable stuff that "American beer" used to universally imply. I say, refer to it by what it isN'T, not some meaningless, warm-fuzzy marketeering term. Or just call it "good beer". And now I see that the "c"-word is even making inroads into German brewing...d'oh! ("irk" == ärgern == irritate)
