Sorry to hear that, Jim. Best wishes for your job search. I wasn't writing off Bamberg but, having stayed in Dorfleins and Hallstadt in my last two visits, I realise that you don't have to stay right in the centre to enjoy the city. I wasn't thinking of somewhere to far away, as many of the interesting rural venues are pretty close but just lacking easy public transport. Somewhere with a rail connection would be handy and with a good variety of beers on local offer. Forchheim springs to mind in this respect and we were quite impressed in our quick visit in transit to the Kreuzberg. There is plenty of accommodation and fewo prizes are below those of Bamberg, which is only 20 minutes away on the train. A reasonably sized party (say a dozen) could strike good deals with hotels, fewo's, etc., and also could easily hire a minibus. Ok, just ideas and maybe a pipedream but it seems a reasonable idea to me. Incidentally, for our far-flung correspondents (such as those in the USA), it could, potentially, be a cost saver (above ideas, minibus from Frankfurt Airport, etc.). See how I'm think of your welfare! |
