Rittmayer in Willersdorf was nice. I will stay there again. We took full advantage pf not having to catch a bus/taxi/or train and stayed at the kellers right until closing time and walked back in the dark and still it was very easy to do. Also had a night cap seidla at the hotel. I also liked Landgasthof Büttel in Geisfeld. The people running it were helpful, friendly, and spoke fluent english. The thing about staying at this place is there is so much beer stuff to do in and around Geisfeld and if you ever get stuck there during cool weather and get bored it's a short taxi ride (20 euros) into Bamberg. I will make this a stop again in the future but will aim for warmer weather. Just walking around the area for 3-4 hours I passed 6 different kellers and biergartens (and I know there are more). Some open some not (it was 19 degress that day). Reichold in Hochstahl ... well it would have helped if they hadn't decided to take Urlaub that day. Luckily I had a car with me and didn't get dropped off by bus. I instead got a room at Rothenbach in Aufsess which worked out okay. Large room, clean, decent beer and food. Unfortunately, I cancelled my visit to Burgebrach due to miserable weather and stayed at the Best Western in Bamberg that night instead. This by the way, is the most comfortable hotel I've stayed at in Bamberg but not cheap. The best brauerei hotel of the whole trip though was Josef Schneider in Essing. Great service, beer, and food right from the get go. |
