| As we'd discussed and emailed, Eggolsheim is the closest Bahnhof to Hirschaid as the crow flies and as the Mensch walks. As the car drives, however, Hirschaid is about 500 meters (according to googlemaps, et. al.) closer because of the way one has to loop around a bit to get to Eggolsheim. Not sure what's up with your GPS, maybe too much Kellerbier? 9.1km to Hirschaid and 9.6km to Eggolsheim by road. By foot it's about 9 and 7.5 respectively. By direct line 7.8 and 6.7. And yes that AST is Forchheim based, meaning Hirschaid and Buttenheim lie outside their range. Forchheim also has the same RE trains that Hirschaid does of course. So the AST will cost about 9€ according to the taxi drivers which is a big savings over a normal cab to Forchheim, or only half the fare to Hirschaid or Eggolsheim. And it ain't as flexible with the timing. Thursday's quick Seidla at Roppelt's was tasty but there were maybe about 40 people there compared to the hundreds on Wednesday. Cloudy and not so warm! |
