Bamberg Trip Report - the first weekend

This came up earlier - I remember because we were going to go through Treuchtlingen on our to Eschawo. Now we will be possibly going that way on our way to Bamberg in September. I think someone (Juergen?) said it was about a 20-minute walk from the station. The question is again, is it worth breaking our journey and the walk to visit? I wonder if there is a taxi in T? (and can I persuade my spouse of the rationale!)
