Definitely agree with Jan. Keesmann is very pleasant, one of the best pils around and a nice atmosphere. Wunderburg is about a 20 minute walk from the centre or a quick bus ride from ZOB (can't remember the bus number). Try a couple in Keesmann, then walk across the road to Mahr's. In my view (not all agree), Mahr's is something really special. Try to get there as close to 4 pm as possible, when they tap the 'U'. A delicious beer, straight from the barrel, thus no extra CO2 - a rela treat in Bamberg. Try to sit in the first inside room, which has real character but is often full. Ignore the rudeness of the waitresses, there probably having an off day, as usual! If the weather is ok, just sit in the garden and order from the hatch or stay in the Schwemm. Either way, it's an experience that, IMHO, equals Schlenkerla - both are high up in Europe's top drinking experiences. If you have time, a trip up hill to Spezial keller on a nice day is well worth while, the beer is good and the view of the city is fantastic. |
