Yes. I have asked for the "Sommerbier" and get it. The official name is "Aecht Schlenkerla Kräusen". If I was angry, I would say it is an attempt to imitate the success of the "Spezial Lager" and is also very drinkable. The Kräusen has 4,5% vol. alc., 30 BU and is not so dark as this image shows: http://schlenkerla.de/rauchbier/sorten/aecht-schlenkerla-kraeusen.jpg The name "Kräusen" refers to a technique called "Aufkräusen": A mature pale/discreet brown Lager with few smoke aroma get a shot of a very fresh beer ("Jungbier"; stage of primary fermentation). "kraus" means curly like curly hair because the young beer has much foam. Price: 2,60 Euro per 0,5 l at the Schlenkerla pub. |
