| New and sort-of-new breweries worth a stop include: Friedel's Brauhaus am Kreuzberg - The Friedel-Winkelmann family shuttered their old brewery in Schnaid and put a new on-premises brewery and restaurant-pub into operation in 2007, at their Keller in the Kreuzberg complex. Ganställer-Bräu - Andy Ganställer has taken over the old Friedel brewery in Schnaid, running it under his own name, and serving the beers at the old Drei Kronen pub in Strassgiech. Andy announced very recently that he would be pouring a Doppelbock at the pub, but suggested that it will not be on long before it's all gone. Nikl-Bräu - Nice newer place opened in Pretzfeld in 2008. Liked the Dunkles. Elch-Bräu - Older pub-restaurant set up brewing in 2007, in the village of Thuisbrunn, the northern terminus of the 5-Seidla-Steig. Schanzenbräu - Located in the Nürnberg district of Gostenhof. The original brewery dated from 2004 and brewed on a nanobrewery scale, but the current location and brewery opened in 2007. |
