| According to the nice lady at the info counter at the Forchheimer Bahnhof, to whom I was complaining about the Ar$chl0ch conductor who refused to let the missus & I board the S-Bahn with our bikes at 16.31 toward Erlangen, despite the little bicycle symbol for the train in question on the big yellow departure timetable. He said that bikes are not allowed on the S-Bahn between 15.00 and 18.30 on workdays, and didn't care that the timetable indicated otherwise. So whilst waiting for the next RE, I went in and the lady at the desk confirmed that yes, when the specific S-Bahn train is marked with a bike symbol on the timetable, this 15-18.00 bike-Verbot does not apply, and he should have let us board. And she showed me where in the VGN Tarif handbook this is explained, and sure enough, here it is online, the fourth bullet under http://vgn.de/produkte/gemeinschaftstarif/kapitel/05/ . In fact, every single S-Bahn train listed on the timetable at Forchheim between 15.00 and 18.30 is supposed to allow bikes, according to the symbols! Not sure what was up this guy's Po. Was a delightful sunny day to sit out front of Hebendanz and enjoy the Bächla Leicht 2.8% ABV Lager and regular Export Hell after a bike tour. We both had the afternoon off. Why smoking is "allowed" in the Schwemme though....? |
