| My wife used to use a 31 day Mobicard to travel to work. She got a secondary card with a serial number at the VGN office, with the specific zones between Erlangen and her workplace hand-written on it. She then had to write the serial number of this card on each Mobicard she got, to show which specific zones it was valid for. This means that a Mobicard is good for a specific price level (number of zones traveled through) and zones for a specific route. I believe a 7-day is the same. Mobicards are primarily intended for commuters, hence the restrictions on use.
