The Umlaut in German

You would have the same problem in Wales (I'm part Welsh) that we had in Ireland. Dead keen to learn the language then found that there would be no one to speak it to. Would you believe that I've had arguments in my local pub where I've supported the teaching of Irish and the natives have opposed it. Funny world. Often in the Uk, news items with people speaking English with Asian or West Indian accents are dubbed. Which is kind of strange because most Southern English (or from my part of the North even) would have more of a problem understanding Newcastle or Glasgow!
