On a mac options-s does ß I used to know all the windows alt-nnn codes for German but since moving exclusively to a real computer about 3 years ago I have forgotten them all. Excuse the opinionating -- I had to drink Pliny the Elder while waiting for the Pliny the Younger to be tapped :) Did you know that UniCode recognizes both an upper and lower case ß -- even though they are (currently) rendered the same...
