Never been to Ebermannstadt. But Eschawo population, with Neuhaus, is around 6,000. You can google the town's website, which has a map showing zoiglstube and gives you a good idea of size. You can walk (as we often did) from one end of Eshawo to 't'other in about 10 -15 minutes, passing all Zoiglstube as you go. Walk to Neuhaus is about 20 minutes going (up a very steelp hill) and as long as it takes you to stagger back! Somewhere in the archives is a piece about walking between the two through the Waldnaabtal (forest). Definitely stay in town - there's 2 hotels in Eschawo and 1 in Neuhaus and numerous fewos, and nothing is very expensive, includng food. We had two pizzas and salads for €6 on night! All the stube sell food, which varies from snacks to substantial meals (not so great for veggies like me, though) for knockdown prices - you can see their menus on the web. Zoigl was €1.60 a seidla last year. You need to stay for more than 1 night to get any real idea of the place is all about. The other zoigl towns are a bit tricky to get to unless you have a car and that negates the purpose of going. There's loads of info on the zoigl sites (easiest just to google and meander through them) and there will be a long report of our 3-week stay last year on this site soon (subtle hint to Fred). Ask me if you want more info., though I don't know why I encourage people so much, it'll soon become too crowded! |
