Oktoberfest bier

I repeat the same mistake every year: I buy a bottle of each Münchener Oktoberfest when they appear at Fränky Getränke near me. And every year, I drink about 2 ml, and the rest meets the sewer. I wonder, however, if Barry's Paulaner is the kind exported to the US, which *is* more like the Oktoberfest beers used to be like: maltier, darker, better, not so dumbed down to get tourists drunk as quickly as possible. There are indeed two versions.
