West Clare / Franconia

Yeah the only thing that ever bothered me about holidays in Ireland was lack of beer selection. I can drink some Guinness but I get really sick of it after a night or two. Then what is the alternative? Carlsberg, Harp, etc. But all the other things that you mentioned about the west of Ireland make it well worth visiting still. Now if Aer Lingus would just make a connection from Shannon airport to Nurnberg (or even Munich or Dusseldorf) I'd have no choice but to spend a few days in Clare/Galway/Mayo on the way home to Boston.
