US vs British English 'on' |

| That's true or it was when studied English in the 1970s. However, I have noticed a vast change in American English over the past few years. If you watch US films from the 1930s and even up to the fifty years, it was possible to hear American actors with almost British pronunciations (e.g. Bette Davis in some of her films). Now, I don't watch too many US films because I find it hard to understand the language. The same is true in the UK - I find it quite hard to understand the kids nowadays and the kind of rules that we have been talking about seem to have gone out of the window. |
