Vegetarian offerings in Franconia range from a little bit to surprisingly abundant, depending on where you go and what's on offer. Places doing only "Kalte Brotzeit" won't have much more besides cheese-and-bread platters, usually, especially the ubiquitous Obatzda. Places with more expanded offerings will have salads and, often, the near-ubiquitous platter of Käsespätzle. You will also find that Mediterranean restos - read Italian and Greek, mainly - can be useful in this regard. The vegan can simply go "level 5." Problem solved. ;-) It's a good thing you're not going to the UK to drink real ale, many of which are fined with isinglass. Theoretically, though, most Franconian beer is potentially problematic, as the spent grain is usually picked up by farmers to feed livestock. Utt-oh! |
