Barry, Youre absolutely right about CAMRA, if it wasnt for them wed all be drinking swill like Watneys Red Barrel(or rather we wouldnt because it was undrinkable). I think though, you have to allow for different beer traditions. After all, the reason we go to Belgium or Franconia is to taste something a bit different. It seems to me this debate is a bit like the English North/South debate about the size of the head on beer, at the end of the day its down to personal preference and what you have become used to. I have to say the best beers I have had in my life have been in Franconia. Of course some are better than others, but there arent too many which arent worth trying in my limited experience. Hope we may one day meet in Bamberg to discuss this further with a large beer in hand!
