That is one reason I have a folding bike (Bike Friday). Put it in its bag and its just another piece of (lumpy) baggage. I did the Thalys from Amsterdam to Antwerp in March, just to check out the new route (less than 1 hour from Schiphol to Antwerpen Centraal) and it was OK. The previous time was maybe 3-4 years ago and it was terrible.
