| Brauerei Hartleb in Maroldweisach is well worth a visit. Sat outside and had a very good meal of Kessler (a thick cut Smoked eye of bacon), beans and spuds, washed down by their excellent Vollbier. by far the hoppiest beer I've had in Germany this trip. Reached Marolweisach by train to Ebern (1058 from Bamberg) and the 1217 bus from outside the Grundschule. Out of the station, turn left and first left and the bus stop is 100 yards down the hill. You will actually have almost 50 minutes to kill in Ebern so I would rcommend a vist to the marktplatz. The last cafe on the left (didn't make a nte of the name) sells beer from Vierzehnheiligen. To get back from Maroldwesiach we took a taxi to Hofheim (25 euros split 4 ways) and visited Br. Raab, but there is a bus back at 1352 to Ebern with a 10 minute connection into the 1425 train back to Bamberg. Mat W |
