| I'd like to go this way but it seems to me that really cheap offers are getting fewer and fewer. I've now become an expert on the Deutsche Bahn fare structure and even advised their office in London, pointing out that you can't buy certain fares online when they said that all fares could be purchased. For interests sake (is anyone really interested?), I think that I've now found a way round my problem! There is an IC train leaving at 18.18, which would be a real bargain at €19 each, if I could guarantee making the connection. However, the shuttle operator (Bohr) tell me that, due to roadworks on the autobahn and the Frankfurt rush hour, they can't guarantee being on time. So, the option is to buy a ticket to Aschaffenburg (first point where a Bayern Lande ticket can be used) at €11 each, plus a Bayern card = total €50, as against €70 to book Fra - Bam, which equals about 8 seidlas of good Bamberg beer! |
