Odd Canadian English pronunciations (very OT)

Many Americans still say Holland when they mean The Netherlands. I even heard this quite often by the TV announcers in World Cup matches. One of the strangest encounters I had was late night in a bar in Antwerp where a local, who spoke no English or French (which is odd enough), insisted that he was certain that I spoke Dutch (which I do not). I found this out when I finally asked the barmaid to intervene.
