I've decided from now on I'm flying direct to/from Munich from Boston. The cost of the flight is about the same as the direct flight to Frankfurt and the flight home from Munich is at 4pm in the afternoon. Plus if I did feel the need to stay near the airport the night before Munich is not such a bad place to be. It doesn't hurt that the airport has a beer garden either. Of I realize that you're getting a much better price plus first class upgrades but for me being able to sleep late the morning before going home and the direct flight is well worth it.
