I doubt anyone on here is naive enough to think every brewery in Franconia brews great beer. I think most of us have had the random clunker. Although for me they seem to be the exception rather than the rule by far. But then again I prefer the style of beers brewed in Franconia above all others so I'm not too hard to convince. I'm kind of like Juergen about this. I'd love to visit as many of the breweries as I possibly can over time. Sadly I won't be able to cover too much ground until I'm a little older and have more time and money (i.e. once my daughters are through college). I'm not a ticker but I do love the region and the culture and the people and of course the beer. So I want to see and drink as much of it as I can before I croak (from a seat in a pub or keller that is). Part of the magic of Franconia for me is that there are so many breweries, pubs, and kellers waiting for me to discover mostly nestled into the beautiful countryside and villages. For me, it's the bloody closest thing to paradise on earth that I've found. And I can afford to visit at least once a year so it works for me. Maybe if I lived there I'd feel different and would prefer to go off to the UK for my pub crawls? |
