Roppelt's and Kreuzberg Kellers |

Yes, the bus is for Willersdorf. Unfortunately, it won't wait on the train if the train's late, and it can be tight. I know a couple of people who've arrived by train just to see the bus pulling away. Ah well. There are three options for where to get off the bus. The shortest walk to the top of the Kreuzberg is from the next-last stop, in S'limbach. It's just under 1 km, with a fairly steep 50 m elevation gain in the woods. The longest walk is from the Sparkasse stop in Hallerndorf, at about 2.4 km with 70 m elevation gain, nearly all out in the sun, but also a lovely view. But sometimes the bus will stop at the Kellerberg stop in H'dorf, which shortens the walk to 2 km--note that the name of the stop has nothing to do with the Kreuzberg Keller(s), rather, the two Keller(s) in Hallerndorf. It's the street leading up the hill (Berg) from the Lieberth Dorfkeller (right at the bus stop!) to the Rittmayer Gartenkeller. http://tinyurl.com/profil-stieb-kreuz-hallern (profile graphic) http://tinyurl.com/profil-hallern-kreuz-stieb (profile graphic) The third option is a 1.5 km walk in the sun from the stop in Schnaid, with the least elevation gain (30 m), though there's a bit downhill at the start. http://tinyurl.com/kreuzberg-bushaltestellen (map of 3 bus stop - Kreuzberg walks) The bus route follows the road from Hallerndorf up to Schnaid, then down to S'limbach, and then on to the end in Willersdorf. I still recommend starting at Roppelt's, then up to the Kreuzberg, and then walking 2 km downhill to Hallerndorf, where you can wait for the bus at the Dorfkeller. You may well see me if the weather's nice...either day. |
