Der Vogelbräu is definitely still made - however it is brewed in Karlsruhe (and Ettlingen and Durlach, both suburbs of Karlsruhe - Baden Wurttemberg, not even Bavaria). Rudi Vogel (the founder/owner) is a regular visitor of Bamberg, and at my last visit of Vogelbräu in KA they had a special whisky of the week - Blaue Maus Spinnaker from Fleischmann in Eggolsheim - franconian indeed.
