While I'm no great expert, having ventured to Zoiglland only once, I'll say it's more interesting than the vast majority of non-Franconian Bavarian beer (Pils, Hell, Dunkel, Weizen). I've had a couple that compare favourably with Franconian Lager or Kellerbier, and a couple that ranged from boring to sour--and not Gose/Lambic sour, rather, the vomitous kind. Whether it's worth visiting is your decision, of course: The countryside itself is perhaps not as interesting as places further south and east are, but the beer is a step above, I think. Zoiglbier varies by brewer, like "Lager" does in Franken. |
