Subtitles can mean double fun! |

| Dubbing seems to be both an english and german pest - remember John Wayne speakiong german? Subtitles have indeed a lot of advantage - I remember watching (long ago) the Muppet Show here in NL, and at the end Statler and Waldorf come always up with some balconism, sometimes with a wordjoke that is utterly impossible to translate - the joke just gets lost in translation. But the good thing is - the people who (at that time) provided the translation for the subtitles used to come up almost always with a completely different pun, sometimes even better than the original english. So if you both listen to the spoken english and read the dutch subtitles, you end up with double fun! |
