Stiebarlimbacher Kellerbier--das Beste Bier in Deutschland?

Objectivity has its place in discussing beer quality though. Beer judges, professional and amateur, assess beer based on its conformance to its "style" and its lack of procedural problems, for example. They assign scores to beers in competitions, and then declare a beer to be the "best" or "champion" of each competition. I brewed beer at home many years ago, and sometimes entered it in homebrew competitions. My beers were very good, and I liked them a lot, but they lost to other, better beers. (Though in one case, my "English IPA" scored 45/50, the highest score in the competition, but didn't even win its category, due to a non-scored taste-off having given the win to a Bitter with 36 points...) I've also judged beer in competitions. You can indeed talk objectively about one beer being "better" than another. If it doesn't rain today, I'll be talking about how "gut das Stiebarlimbacher Kellerbier ist" later this afternoon. Hast du frei / Bock darauf?
